Last year we built an Advanced Formula Dilution Calculator. It’s been sitting there quietly ever since, and interestingly, it’s consistently one of the most visited pages on the site. So clearly… people are using it. Recently, one of our hard working diploma students flagged that an old external dilution calculator many perfumers relied on is no longer available. That prompted me to revisit ours properly. I’ve now upgraded it.

It now allows you to:
• Enter multiple diluted ingredients
• Work in drops, ml, or grams (with density)
• Calculate true neat essential oil equivalents
• See your real final dilution
• Analyse note balance based on actual concentration, not just drop count
If you’ve ever blended:
– 50% rose
– 10% bergamot
– diluted resins
– pre-built accords
…you’ll know that raw drop counting doesn’t tell the full story.
This tool works out what’s actually happening in the finished formula.
It’s still technically in beta, not because it’s new, but because I never received the level of feedback I’d hoped for when it was first released.
So I’m asking again. If you’re a working perfumer, test it properly. Compare it to your manual calculations. Switch between units. Push the density inputs.
Try complex dilution stacks. And tell me where it shines, or where it needs tightening. Constructive critique genuinely welcome.
If you’ve been quietly using it for the last couple of years, I’d love to hear that too.
